Lenses for a special purpose are marked with S and V for variable tints. Side protection like wraparound or attached component are not compulsory but they are highly recommended.

Now, all prescription or non-prescription meet the standard of OSHA and Z87 for side shields. This is the main and major difference between regular and safety eyewear. So you need appropriate protection for eyes safety at your all types of work environment.
